BROAD GOALS

Enhance Early Childhood Literacy Services
Promote Effective Parenting
Increase Access for Children with Special Needs
Strengthen the Quality of Early Learning Environments
Remove Barriers by Building Capacity through Cooperating Businesses

SPECIFIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Establish an Early Literacy Coalition in order to improve the effectiveness of early Literacy services for parents, children and early learner educators in Kennebec and Somerset Counties.
Increase Parents as Teachers services in order to strengthen the role of parents in the development of their children.
Provide Supporting Care Providers Through Personal Visits in order to strengthen family child care provider skills in providing developmentally appropriate activities in conjunction with parents.
Increase the number of mainstream childcare programs serving children with special needs.
Establish accreditation support services in order to increase the number of accredited childcare centers and family childcare homes.
Establish a mini-grant fund in order to improve the ability of accreditation cohort members to meet accreditation standards.
Establish a scholarship and incentive fund to support early educators in achieving their educational goals.
Establish CDA support services.
Provide assistance to employers and families in exploring ways to support expanded care services in Kennebec and Somerset Counties.
Expand rural early childcare services by providing business training for family child care providers in conjunction with a mini grant fund.
