Dear Students, Parents, Counselors and Educators:
We are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to
review materials that will help you work with others in the area of Social
Responsibility. While working on a project with Raj Smith from Cornell
University, Raj discovered a 1970's career education curriculum authored
by James Dunn, Ph.D. Developed for the American Institute for Research,
this curriculum included a unit on social responsibility. This work
has been redesigned and placed in TheCenter4's Center for Social Responsibility.
Your work in social responsibility wil include the following topics:
-
Responsibility to Humankind
-
Responsibility to Society and Government
-
Responsibility to the Environment
-
Responsibility to Self
These topics are further defined through a series of concept
statements. These concept statements are presented in the form of an activity.
Through these activities, individuals can determine how they value each
activity and their commitment to engage in the activity.
To explore these concepts, TheCenter4 presents you with a web page that
links you to the topics, concepts, and activities that relate to social
responsibility. At the top of this link page, you will find links
to a journal activity and a list creation process that allows individuals
to develop three personal statements or phrases that relate to the specific
activities. At the bottom of the link page is a form link titled, Share
your efforts with others . This link takes you to a form
wherein teachers/counselors can input and share their work with others.
If you decide to use these materials, click the following link to inform
us of your intent. As you use these materials, please keep us informed
and provide us with updates and suggestions.
